Light Earthquake Hits Nador in Northeastern Morocco

Rabat – A tremor registering 4.6 on the Richter scale struck the northeast coastal region of Nador on Saturday morning.The National Institute of Geophysics recorded the tremor as happening at 11:42 a.m., and stated its epicentre was 117km northeast of the city, offshore.The tremor is the second of such magnitude in a week. Another ‘light’ earthquake registering 4.5 on the Richter scale was recorded in Figuig early Wednesday morning. The Richter scale ranges between ‘Micro’ (1.0), to ‘Great’ (above 9.0). Tremors with magnitudes of 4.0-4.9 are considered ‘light’, with an obvious shaking of objects indoors.
